We anticipate that there will be a number of opportunities to present the work of the TUDCA-ALS Consortium at scientific meetings and conferences and within the scientific journal community. Any slides or posters that are presented and any scientific papers published will be accessible here.
This review discusses the possible ways in which tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA) stops cell death, with evidence of these mechanisms seen in animal models of Alzheimer’s disease, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease as well as motor neurone disease (MND). The effect of TUDCA in human disease is also reviewed, with in-depth information on clinical trials assessing whether TUDCA slows down progression of MND. It finally discusses the different results seen from treatment with just TUDCA, compared with TUDCA given together with sodium phenylbutyrate.
